Henry Lemke Receives Seed of Service Award

On May 14, during the Eden Valley-Watkins FFA Chapter’s annual awards ceremony, the Meeker County Farm Bureau proudly presented Henry Lemke with the 2025 Seed of Service Award. The award was presented by MCFB President, Matt Johnson.

This award honors FFA members who lead not for recognition, but out of a deep commitment to their chapters, communities, and values. Henry embodies that spirit of grassroots leadership, showing up, serving quietly and consistently, and making a lasting impact.

“Serving others is important to me as it’s a way to give back to the community that has served me,” Henry shared. “I want future generations to feel this same support, and by serving others, I can begin that process.”

Henry has played a vital behind-the-scenes role in his FFA chapter, always dependable, always engaged, supporting events, encouraging his peers, and leading by example. His leadership is shaped by strong mentors, including his teacher, coach, and FFA advisor Mr. Warren.

“Mr. Warren inspires me every day to show up and work hard no matter the circumstances,” Henry said. “He’s always there with words of encouragement and helps me put the right foot forward.”

Henry’s time in FFA has helped him grow in confidence, sharpen his public speaking, and set clear goals for the future. He encourages younger members to take full advantage of all that FFA offers, especially Leadership Development Events (LDEs), which he credits with shaping him into the leader he is today.

Looking ahead, Henry plans to attend the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities, majoring in Kinesiology with a goal of becoming an Orthopedic Surgeon. His long-term vision? To return to rural Minnesota and serve the community that has shaped him.

“I don’t see this award as the end of my leadership journey,” he said. “I see it as encouragement to keep being a leader for the future—and to help shape leaders who will accomplish things I couldn’t.”

The Seed of Service Award includes a $250 cash award and a certificate featuring a seedling—symbolizing service that takes root and continues to grow.

Congratulations, Henry—and thank you for showing how leadership rooted in service can strengthen communities for generations to come.
